I think
microphone is the most underestimated piece of gear by many guitar players.
You can have top of the line amp and cabinet, and wall of racks, but if you have shitty mic,
this all will sound like a shit ;) Having your own mic makes you independent and you will always sound same no matter where you go. I am using legendary
Sennheiser e609 and Shure SM57..
most popular, just "go with the flow" and buy what everybody else is buying ;)
Placement of the mic is individual, but I can tell you how I am using mine:
Sennheiser e609: 10 o'clock on the outside edge of speaker and almost touching grill cloth.
Shure SM57: 3 o'clock, half way from center and about 5 inches away from cabinet. |
